Ascot was established in 1995 at a time when there were no international schools in the Saphan Sung area. Initially it was called Park Place International School and provided an education for the Early Years, but due to popular demand the school expanded and built a Primary School facility . This steady and sustainable growth continued and a Secondary School was built in 2009, by this time the school had changed its name to Ascot International School and in 2011 had received accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS). In 2010, Ascot became an Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Centre offering a wide range of IGCSE subjects and in 2012, students began studying for CIE Advanced Levels (A levels). In 2014 the school was again accredited by CIS for the whole school from Nursery until year 13.
The school continued to grow and in 2016 a new secondary building was added and in the same year was authorised as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the IB Diploma Programme. IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision.
In 2019 the school was authorised to deliver the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), and became one of only 6 schools in Bangkok to offer multiple IB programmes. In order to meet the demands of the IB World School status, new science labs, ICT labs and an Art and Design suite were built in addition to a new Futsal Stadium and an airconditioned sports hall and performance space. Libraries are at the centre of IB World Schools and the library in the Early Years (now called Lower Primary ) was refurbished and connected to the new Upper Primary library. At the same time the Secondary library was improved and upgraded.
All international schools are required to be accredited by local and international accreditation bodies. Ascot International School is currently accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and ONESQA. The school is also authorised as a Cambridge International (CIE) examination centre. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School the school is authorised to provide the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (DP).
The Ascot Lower Primary – Nursery to Year 1
Ascot’s Lower Primary is committed to providing students with hands on and experiential learning opportunities. With a strong emphasis on learning through play and exploration, we encourage our students to have ownership over their learning opportunities. We support our students in developing a growth mindset and resilience and independence. Each class is provided with a teaching assistant and a class nanny. This low student to teacher ratio ensures that students are provided with direct support where and when needed. Our dedicated and qualified teaching team ensures that our vision, mission, values and the essential elements of the Primary Years Program (PYP) underpin all aspects of Lower Primary.
The Ascot Upper Primary Years – Year 2 to Year 6
Ascot’s Upper Primary Years is committed to providing students with hands on and experiential learning opportunities. We encourage our students to take ownership over their learning by being an active participant in the planning and direction of their inquiries. Through collaborative and transdisciplinary approaches to exploring authentic and relevant issues, our students develop the skills needed to become successful global citizens in a dynamic world. Our dedicated and qualified teaching team ensures that our vision, mission, values and the essential elements of the Primary Years Program underpins all aspects of our Upper Primary program.
Welcome to the Ascot Secondary Years
The Secondary school at Ascot encompasses Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 or ages 11 – 18 culminating in the International Baccalaureate Diploma. The courses of study are built on solid foundations received in the primary school. At the heart of the curriculum is the desire for students to become adaptable lifelong learners in an increasingly changing world, we are preparing students for careers that may not yet exist! Topics are re-visited; ideas reinforced and extended, all within a framework that prepares students for taking the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in year 11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) in year 13.
The transition from Primary to Secondary starts in year 6 where students take part in lessons in the secondary building classrooms with the secondary teachers. The students have the opportunity to work with secondary teachers with specialist subject knowledge and take part in exciting lessons. This is to help ensure a smooth and successful transition and to support student engagement, progress and wellbeing.
At the heart of the secondary school is the pastoral system, which is underpinned by a comprehensive PSHE program and weekly assemblies, students get the opportunity to celebrate accomplishments and reflect on the week, as well as preparing for the one ahead.

Mission Statement from the IB
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
Central to all IB programmes is the Learner Profile. This is a range of capacities and responsibilities which the IB believes will lead students towards becoming internationally minded individuals with respect for themselves, others and the world around them.
